Gout, Gouty Arthritis, High Uric Acid

Dr. Manso used to suffer from Gout himself, but has been free from the illness for over 20 years.

We treat Gout with diet, controlling the PH (acidity) of the body, and sometimes using prescription meds such as Colchicine, Zyloprim (Allopurinol) or Probenecid (Benemid).

Uric acid is stored in the joints and tissues of the body, so it is important to maintain the blood uric acid levels below 5 for at least a year to remove urate deposits. We have seen joint destruction and uric acid accumulations on people with uric acid levels as low as 5.7.

Uric acid crystals accumulation in joints and tissues increase with low temperature, so thyroid function must be regulated. Long, very hot baths and whirlpools are good for removal of uric acid. Stay as warm as possible at all times to prevent Gout attacks.

Because uric acid is eliminated in the urine, hyperurcemia (high uric acid) is a common cause of kidney stones. To prevent this, Gout patients should drink extra water and keep their urine pH between 7.0 and 8.0
